We’re excited to share Democracy R&D’s very first Annual Report, The Year in Deliberation 2024—a milestone publication that captures key developments in deliberative democracy and across our global network.
This collaborative effort brings together insights from members around the world, offering a rich overview of where the field stands and where it’s headed. For the first time, we’ve compiled some of the most relevant deliberative events, trends, and resources from the past year—all in one place. Our aim is to make this an annual tradition: a shared tool to track what’s emerging, what we’re learning, and how we’re growing—together.
The report features:
- 14 highlighted cases from 13 countries, across Global North and South
- 4 key trends shaping the field, with reflections from network members
- A selection of around 45 publications—books, articles, and reports
- A detailed overview of network activities: Learning Calls, the New Frontiers Project, and Annual Meetings
- And over 150 links to explore cases, resources, and events
The report was launched on April 22, 2025, during a public event and was led by Ieva Česnulaitytė, Felipe Rey, and Santiago Niño Aguilar, with support from David Schecter and Indira Latorre.
