Missions Publiques and the Stanford Deliberative Democracy Lab have jointly launched the Global Coalition for Inclusive AI, a major international initiative to integrate citizens’ voices into the governance of artificial intelligence. The first global deliberation cycle, running from 2025 to 2026, will engage over 10,000 citizens across more than 100 countries, with the goal of making AI development and policy more inclusive, democratic, and responsive to public values.
The Coalition’s key mission is to bridge the gap between local citizen deliberations and global decision-making spaces, ensuring that ordinary people can meaningfully influence AI governance. The process aims to include participants from at least nine global regions, with activities conducted both online and in person. All logistical and financial needs will be covered to guarantee inclusive participation, regardless of economic or geographic barriers.
In 2025, the focus will be on gathering an initial set of contributions through local and national deliberations, which will be channeled into international policy discussions. A major upcoming opportunity to showcase this work will be the AI for Good Summit in Geneva this July, in collaboration with the United Nations’ ITU.
