Dr Sanskriti Menon is a Senior Programme Director at the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), India. Sanskriti has over 3 decades of experience in education for sustainable development, engaging with formal education systems, communities, civil society organizations, and government agencies. Sanskriti leads a team at CEE focussed on the development of deliberative democracy, consequent to her research on the role of an independent third-party in supporting high-quality public deliberation. The team designed and implemented public participation in preparation of a bicycle masterplan, in street design processes, and supported public consultations on Bt Brinjal and the Green India Mission. The team were Cluster Facilitators for India for the Global Assembly 2021. The team is pioneering civic assemblies in India, exploring appropriate approaches to sortition in the Global South, and engaged with the Extituto de Politica Abierta-led Demo.Reset 2 project as a regional mobilizer. The team hopes to develop the field of deliberative democracy in India and South Asia and advance sustainability through inclusive, deliberative approaches.
